The Choir of Ormond College has released a music CD of carols from England, Ireland, Wales, Germany, Austria, France, Russia and Australia.
Since its inception in 1982 the Choir of Ormond College under the direction of Douglas Lawrence, has become the first Australian choir to receive ongoing international recognition. They perform, tour and record regularly both within Australia and internationally. The Choir Of Ormond College sings several carols long held in affection around the world but adds to these with newer works accompanied by renowned Australian pianist, Stephen McIntyre. The twelve days of Christmas culminated in the Feast of the Magi, when frankincense, gold, and chalk were blessed. Chalk was used to write the initials of the three magi over the doors of churches and homes. Not only do the letters stand for the initials of the Magi (traditionally named Caspar, Melchior, and Balthasar), but of the phrase Christus mansionem benedicat, which translates as "may Christ bless the house".
