Dreams Come to Life

eight point star, regular octagram

Freemasons, their family and friends assembled in Ballarat on Saturday 8 August 2009 to enjoy the bonds of friendship. A project to form a new lodge was launched, in accordance with ancient custom. The oldest freemason in attendance talked about how freemasons have participated in the social fabric of Ballarat.

The high ethical and humanitarian ideals of freemasonry have inspired service to the community over many generations. Freemasonry recognises that men and women of different religious or political beliefs can work together for the improvement of society. It is not Freemasonry, but the individual Mason, instilled with the principles and tenets of the Craft, who has a positive influence on society.

The eight point star has long been associated with the district of Ballarat and the birth of a nation. It has a rich symbolic tradition in Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Proceeds from the sale of this gold lapel pin in the shape of an eight point star are donated to Royal Freemasons' Homes of Victoria
