The Grand Master's Victorian Bushfire Appeal
The shock and grief felt by Victorians in the wake of the devastating bushfires of 7th February 2009 cannot be exaggerated. The depth of these tragic events is yet to be measured. Our thoughts and prayers are with those among us who now suddenly find themselves distressed. Our support will be with them throughout the coming months as they come to terms with the consequences of this most terrible time.
In response, The Grand Master's Victorian Bushfire Appeal was established. The appeal was launched with $400,000 from the Benevolent Fund and pledges of tangible support were received from the United Grand Lodge of England and Grand Lodges throughout Australia and New Zealand.
Funds raised by this appeal have been be directly applied to significant community redevelopment and reconstruction projects and direct assistance to seriously disadvantaged members of the community.
